Narendra Damodardas Modi, born on 19 September 1950, has a history of coming from a poor background. He was born and raised in Vadnagar, Mehsana, where he completed his education. His political journey is a remarkable one. He started as a full-time RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) worker, and then, with RSS’s help, he joined the BJP in 1985. He became the party’s general secretary in 1998. He served as Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. In 2014, he won the Lok Sabha election and became the Prime Minister of India. He still serves as PM after winning the Lok Sabha election in 2024. He is currently the longest-serving PM of the Republic of India outside the Indian National Congress.

PM Modi is a religious person and loves to travel. He was a traveler before he was CM and PM. He liked to travel to new places. He often used to visit religious places. Now, serving as a PM in this country, he also visits places that require aid. However, he still adores religious places and visits them regularly. Recently, before inaugurating Ram Mandir, he visited six temples. However, PM Modi was in the news because he visited Adi Kailash. His Adi Kailash Pilgrimage was a headline because he was India’s first sitting prime minister to visit Adi Kailash. Let’s take a look at his Adi Kailash Pilgrimage.

PM Modi Adi Kailash Yatra

Modi visited Adi Kailash on 18 October 2023. His historic pilgrimage holds significance in many aspects. Situated at 19,567 feet, Adi Kailash is important for religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon Po. Also known as Chota Kailash, this place is a favorite of trekkers. It offers an awe-inspiring trekking experience through diverse landscapes, snowy trails, and many more. The Adi Kailash trek starts from Dharchula, Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand.

PM Modi started his Yatra with a helicopter and landed on Jolingkong Helipad in Pithoragarh. Then, he traveled to Parvati Kund by car to begin his day-long Adi Kailash Pilgrimage, offered prayers at Parvati Kund, and meditated for 25 minutes facing Adi Kailash. He also became the first sitting PM to offer prayers there. His looks and dress were no different from those of the locals; this shows his respect for the local culture and strengthens the bond between spirituality and rich cultural diversity. He wore a white tribal dress and Ranga Byathala (turban).

The local Rung priests at Adi Kailash temple performed Mati Puja, which was dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. PM Modi also participated in this puja, offering his prayers. He then visited Gunji village, which is 36 km away from Adi Kailash. The local community, dressed in vibrant tribal dress, welcomed him cheerfully. He then met army personnel there and completed his PM-related work. This visit boosted tourism in the Adi Kailash region, helping the locals improve their economic conditions and promoting cultural diversity.
